Comal ISD alumni point to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs as instrumental in helping them find their passions.

Students, teachers and parents celebrated their campus counselors last week throughout the district, making sure they felt appreciated.

Three Comal ISD students are among the top 2.6 percent of musicians in the state and will perform in the Texas All-State Music Band concert on Feb. 12, in San Antonio.

Parents, coaches, family and friends packed the gymnasiums at Canyon and Smithson Valley High Schools Wednesday to celebrate 20 senior athletes as they signed national letters of intent to play their sport of choice at the collegiate level.

Comal ISD teachers and staff members are celebrating CTE month throughout February. This is the first in a series of stories that will explain CTE and how the district is expanding its efforts to prepare students for their futures whether their next step is college, a vocation or trade school or employment. Students today have the opportunity to examine their options through a wide variety of CTE classes.

The Canyon Lake High School cafeteria was packed with 300 participants anxiously waiting to play chess on a Saturday in January. The pawns, the rooks, the bishops, the queens and, of course, the kings were lined up neatly in rows ready for the action. This was the district's first chess tournament of the year and here are the results.

High school students have a lot on their plates, especially in the spring semester. Somehow many find the time to volunteer in their communities and even spearhead collection drives and fund-raising campaigns like the ones highlighted here.

Learning to express ideas, opinions and feelings with the written word can be a powerful tool, and the VFW gives students across the nation an opportunity to hone their writing skills through its annual Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy contests for middle and high school students.

It is no surprise that the Comal ISD Board of Trustees is considering a bond package to address the district's rapid growth, but before the official package is presented to voters, here is a look at some of the items which may be included.

All teachers have big ideas that they wish they could implement in their classrooms from creating a garden and building benches to setting up a grocery store, but they often need a little extra financial help to turn those dreams into reality. That's where the Comal Education Foundation steps in and makes those dreams come true.
