Future Teachers Receive Ready, Set, Teach Graduation Stoles

April 14, 2025 - Comal ISD high school students interested in being a teacher, participated in the district’s annual Ready, Set, Teach Conference April 7 at the Support Services Building. From onboarding and a scavenger hunt to learning about the first-year teaching experience and job searching, they were given an inside look into what it is like to work for the district.

Among the 47 students in attendance, 22 were seniors who received the ‘Ready, Set, Teach’ graduation stole as well as a letter of intent from the district stating that they are guaranteed a job interview with Comal ISD once they complete their education degrees and teaching certificates. Superintendent Dr. John E. Chapman III was on hand to congratulate them.

These future educators have been a part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program known as education and training which prepares students for careers related to teaching, instruction, and creation of instructional and enrichment materials. Comal ISD named it ‘Ready, Set, Teach.’ It familiarizes them with the processes for developing curriculum, coordinating educational content and coaching groups and individuals.

The Ready, Set, Teach program is offered at Canyon High School, Davenport High School, Pieper High School and Smithson Valley High School.

Through this program, students complete teaching internships at the following campuses receiving hands-on training. Those campuses include Bill Brown Elementary, CHS, Canyon Middle School, Church Hill Middle School, Clear Springs Elementary, Garden Ridge Elementary Goodwin Frazier Elementary, Indian Springs Elementary, Johnson Ranch Elementary, Kinder Ranch Elementary, Oak Creek Elementary, Pieper Ranch Middle School, SVHS and Timberwood Park Elementary.

Furthermore, students will earn Educational Aide I certification once they have completed the education and training program.

The following students in the Ready, Set, Teach program received their graduation stoles. Their names along with the college they plan to attend are listed here.
