Comal ISD Announces Dates for 10th Annual Chess Tournaments

Sept. 13, 2022 - The Comal Independent School District is celebrating a milestone this year as it hosts the 10th year of district-wide chess tournaments. The 10th annual tournament dates and locations are being announced along with an invitation-only Tournament of Champions in May where the district’s top players will go head-to-head.

“We are excited about entering our 10th season of chess at Comal ISD,” says Mandy Epley, acting superintendent. “This program began in the fall of 2013, and has grown to become popular among elementary, middle and high school students. Chess teaches students to analyze a situation, think ahead and visualize results while remaining patient and calm.”

This year, the district will host four tournaments. These tournaments are for Comal ISD students only and are capped at 300 students. On-site registration is not available, and parents are required to stay on-site for the duration of the event. Register HERE
