June 7, 2021 - Here’s a look at the graduating class of 2021 from Comal ISD’s four high schools. Collectively, these recent graduates have persevered, accomplished many goals and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Class of 2021 Stats:
- $26.3 million in scholarships earned
- 1,534 graduates from four high schools plus 85 graduating from Comal Academy
- 44 enlistees in United States military
- Three appointments to military academies
- Four National Merit Finalists and one National Merit Scholarship Winner
Comal Academy
- 85 students graduated from Comal Academy Wednesday, May 26, at Davenport High School.
- Graduating senior Mercedes Ortega gave the commencement address.
- Comal Academy provides students with a successful, alternative opportunity to complete credits necessary for a high school diploma.

Canyon High School Cougars
- 584 seniors graduated Friday, May 28, at Cougar Stadium. Photos from graduation may be found at https://tinyurl.com/CHS2021Grads
- Valedictorian: Philip Templeman will attend the University of Notre Dame to study physics in the fall. He is a National Merit Finalist and the UIL Academic gold medalist in calculator, biology and physics. He placed fourth overall in Science.
- Salutatorian: Jaden Wiser received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and will study aerospace engineering.
- 34 Athletes signed letters of intent to play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level.
- Six seniors signed letters of intent to pursue their fine arts passion.
- 13 Cougar seniors committed to serve in the United States military. One has been appointed to a military academy and two to military institutions.
- Jaden Wiser, the class salutatorian, has received an appointment to the United State Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and will major in aerospace engineering.
- The Cougar Class of 2021 received more than $10.4 million in scholarships.
Canyon Lake High School Hawks

- Valedictorian: Caitlin Mott will attend Texas A&M University to study animal science.
- Salutatorian: Landry Brown will attend Texas A&M University to study biology.
- 20 senior Hawks have committed to serve in the United States military.
- The Hawk Class of 2021 received $2.5 million in scholarships.
Memorial Early College High School with St. Philips College Eagles

- Each graduating senior also earned an associate’s degree from St. Philips College.
- Valedictorian: Maya Langendorf will attend the University of Texas at Dallas to study finance and art history.
- Salutatorian: Isabell Sliwinski will attend the American University in Washington D.C. to study international relations and security.
- The Eagles Class of 2021 earned $2.5 million in scholarships.
Smithson Valley High School Rangers

- Valedictorian: Emma Kirchhoff is a National Merit Finalist and National Merit Scholarship Winner. She will attend Rice University to study bioengineering.
- Salutatorian: Iris Bradburywill attend the University of Texas at Austin to study environmental engineering.
- 32 Athletes signed letters of intent to play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level.
- 21 Rangers have committed to serve in the United States military, and two have appointments to military academies.
- The Ranger Class of 2021 earned $11.1 million in scholarships.
