Beginning tomorrow, Oct. 7, student meals will be free for all Comal ISD students through May 27, 2021.
Eligible meals include standard breakfast and lunch meals. However, extras or a la carte items are not included in the free meal program. The program covers meals provided to on-campus students in school cafeterias as well as remote learners who may pick up curbside meals.
The district applied for special funding through the USDA to support this program in part to speed meal service as more students come onto campus beginning Oct. 21 with the change in Instructional Delivery Options.
Money that is currently in a student’s account can still be used to purchase a la carte items. All funds currently in their account will remain there and can be used when normal meal pricing resumes in January.
