Comal ISD Seniors Cap Their Creativity

Some glitter, some feature college logos, some offer positive quotes and some are just cool, but whatever their theme, decorated mortar boards, or graduation caps, are here to stay, and they may help long graduations go by a little faster for those waiting patiently in the stands. Kind of like a game of “I Spy.”

High schools in the Comal Independent School District allow graduating seniors to decorate their mortar boards as long as the decorations are approved by administrators before the big day.

Comal ISD seniors tend to show off their future plans on top of their heads, from simple to intricate and everything in between.

Canyon Lake High School Senior and Valedictorian Audrey Schulze is heading to the University of Texas Austin, and she adorned her mortar board with the university’s mascot, the longhorn, using white and orange flowers.

Smithson Valley High School Senior Abigail White elaborately hand-painted a Vincent Van Gogh-inspired creation on her mortar board, showcasing her artistic talent. She also decorated her friend, Danielle Payne’s board with an inspirational quote and flowers.
